i just heard this the other day and thought of shoal creek (journey into the pain and such. . .) one doesn't think of metallica in terms of deep insight, but there you have it. .

Until it sleeps
Metallica

Where do I take this pain of mine
I run, but it stays right my side

So tear me open, pour me out
There's things inside that scream and shout
And the pain still hates me
So hold me, until it sleeps

Just like the curse, just like the stray
You feed it once, and now it stays

So tear me open, but beware
There's things inside without a care
And the dirt still stains me
So wash me, until I'm clean

*It grips you, so hold me
It stains you, so hold me
It hates you, so hold me
It holds you, so hold me

Until it sleeps**

So tell me why you've choosen me
Don't want your grip, don't want your greed

I'll tear me open, make you gone
No more can you hurt anyone
And the fear still shakes me
So hold me, until it sleeps

*--** Repeat

I don't want it

So tear me open, but beware
The things inside without a care
And the dirt still stains me
So wash me, 'till I'm clean...

I'll tear me open, make you gone
No longer will you hurt anyone
And the fear still shapes me
So hold me, until it sleeps...

Until it sleeps...

This song is a favorite of Lexi and I. The use of a color to describe feelings is unique, yet moving. It is by Jack's Mannequin.

"Dark Blue"

I have (I have) you breathing down my neck (breathing down my neck)
I don't (don't know) what you could possibly expect under this condition so
I'll wait (I'll wait) for the ambulance to come (ambulance to come)
Pick us up off the floor
What did you possibly expect under this condition so

Slow down.. this night's a perfect shade of
Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room when I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning down
Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning 'til there's nothing but dark blue..
Just dark blue

This flood (this flood) is slowly rising up swallowing the ground
Beneath my feet, Tell me how anybody thinks under this condition so
I'll swim (I'll swim) as the water rises up, the sun is sinking down
And now all I can see are the planets in a row
Suggesting it's best that I slow down

This night's a perfect shade of
Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room when I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning (burning) down
Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning dark blue

We were boxing
We were boxing the stars
We were boxing (we were boxing)
You were swinging for Mars
And then the water reached the West Coast
And took the power lines (the power lines)
And it was me and you (this could last forever)
And the whole town under water
There was nothing we could do
It was dark blue

Dark blue (dark blue)
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the world could be burning (burning) down
Dark blue
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room well I'm here with you
I said the room could be burning now there's nothing but dark blue

If you've ever been alone in the dark blue
If you've ever been alone you'll know (you'll know)

I am huge gospel music person. For me it always speaks from the soul with passion and how I usually want to sing out to God. There's a song by a girl I listen to everyday. The name is really culutural for some of you white folks out there. Her name is Kierra (kee-air-uh)Sheard and she is phenomenal. This song speaks to me alot cuz it's sometimes how I feel towards God, it's like she's having a David (from the Bible) conversation. It's called HEAR THIS.

HEAR THIS
Kierra Sheard

I know I've said to you over and over
I'm going to get it together sooner or later.
You told me I had to do something so when I said I'll do better. (oo yeah)
And you even said if you do this I'll do that.
And I told you I was moving on and I was right back in my situation which led me to complications.

Oooh I know, I know.

Chorus:
I know. I know. I made a promise. It may have seemed like jiberish. Please hear this. Lord, I'm relentless.

(O Lord Please.)
Hear this. (Please)
Hear this. (Please)
Hear this. (oh Please)
Oh Hear this.
Hear this. (Yeah)
Lord, I'm relentless.

I've even said, "Please, never leave me!"
And I meant that seriously, Lord, accept my plea. (Yeah)
Lord, I'm crying out to you. (oooh)
Because without you I dont know what I would doooo.
And I know.

Lyrics
Chorus

Lord I'm sorry for
For the things that I've done
For the disappointments
And for my disobedience
Ooh I'm sorry Lord.
Oh Lord
Please forgive me
Never leave me
Cause I made mistakes and I know that you're the only way.

And I know.

Chorus.

ok- this might seem like a weird song for the creek. . .but for some reason, when i think about this song, i think about mary magdalene. I don't know why- kinda puts it in a different perspective.

Fiona Apple- Criminal

I've been a bad bad girl
I've been careless with a delicate man
And it's a sad sad world
When a girl will break a boy
Just because she can
Don't you tell me to deny it
I've done wrong and I want to
Suffer for my sins
I've come to you 'cause I need
Guidance to be true
And I just don't know where I can begin

What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feelin' like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love

Heaven help me for the way I am
Save me from these evil deeds
Before I get them done
I know tomorrow brings the consequence
At hand
But I keep livin' this day like
The next will never come

Oh help me but don't tell me
To deny it
I've got to cleanse myself
Of all these lies till I'm good
Enough for him
I've got a lot to lose and I'm
Bettin' high
So I'm beggin' you before it ends
Just tell me where to begin

What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feelin' like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love

Let me know the way
Before there's hell to pay
Give me room to lay the law and let me go
I've got to make a play
To make my lover stay
So what would an angel say
The devil wants to know

What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feelin' like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against
Because he's all I ever knew of love

What I need is a good defense
'Cause I'm feelin' like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I've sinned against

Because he's all I ever knew of love

I heard Karma police by radiohead the other morning and thought about it for the creek- a "works versus grace" thing- but when i actually read the lyrics, i don't know- they're way weirder than i thought they were.

This one just says it so succintly:

12 Stones

The Way I Feel

Lately I've been wandering
Off the narrow path
You’ve given me so many things that I've never had
And all in all I know it's you that always pulls me through
If you reach deep inside you’ll see my heart is true

‘Cause I hate the way I feel tonight
And I know I need you in my life
Yes I hate the way I feel inside
And I promise to make the sacrifice

The world I know is pulling me
More and more each day
I feel like the odd man out as I begin to pray
Spiteful eyes are watching me
With everything I do
In the midst of darkness Lord
My spirit calls for you

(You know sometimes deep inside)
I feel like this

'Cause I hate the way I feel tonight
And I know I need you in my life
Yes I hate the way I feel inside
And I promise to make the sacrifice

'Cause I hate the way I feel tonight
And I know I need you in my life
Yes I hate the way I feel inside
And I promise to make the sacrifice

The Way I Feel Yeaah

The Way I Feeeel

i've been having adventures on lastfm.com the last couple of days- i've found some very offbeat stuff- some pretty cool songs, too.
